Road Trip Rollicks

This is my first road trip in Sarawak after so many years! Don’t get me wrong here. Road trips are actually one of the worst experiences for me as a kid. I had lactose intolerance, motion sickness and anything that you would hate during road trips. But for some reasons, after so long not being on the rocky roads in Sarawak, I actually enjoyed this road trip. In fact, I had sentimental moments seeing how much this state has progressed. To be honest, being a Sarawakian, it's kinda normal to hear people say idiotic things about the people here. The most common thing that the people from the peninsular would say or ask would most probably be this,

“ Do you guys live on trees?”

And I would sarcastically respond to these people,

“Oh yes!”

Whereas deep down, I actually respond to them internally like this,

“Don’t you know what Google is? ”

Hahaha I still think it’s funny that this question is still being asked by people even up until today. Being a student under a scholarship from Yayasan Sarawak had made me attend an event with the director from Yayasan Sarawak and once during his speech, he told us about this joke where he was being asked by a fellow comrade 20 years back and yet this joke is still here in the 21st century.

But anyways, with the Pan Borneo Highway is still in construction, the roads here are kinda bad and typing is such a challenge. Haih, I guess everything changed except for my body resistance for road trips. I feel like puking 🤢 (I knew eating an Oreo ice cream before the ride wasn’t a good idea haish) Till next time!
